A Brief History

The Madonna Ministry was founded in 1970 by Arnold Michael, D.D., LHD and his wife Bishop Kathryn Michael. Archbishop Warren Watters was the co-consecrator for Bishop Arnold Michael and later consecrator for both Bishop Kathryn Michael, and Bishop Charles Sommer. Dr. Michael received his Doctorates for his work in Religious Science and for his authorship of “Blessed Among Women” and “Brothers of the Grape”.

Bishop Charles Sommer became the Director for the Madonna Ministry after Bishop Arnold Michael’s transition in 1987. He retired as Director Emeritus in 2002. The current leadership, Bishop Terrie Riley, and the Board of Directors expanded the Ministry umbrella to the Madonna Interfaith Community in late 2016.

The Madonna Ministry is rooted on Apostolic Succession historically to the first Christian church founded by Saint Peter and spiritually to all teachers of Truth wherever found. The Madonna Ministry is a sacramental, mystical and Christ Conscious-centered church comprised of a voluntary and free association of individuals. We strive to exemplify the highest aspirations of humankind and spirituality, without bias as to race, gender, creed, culture, time, place in history, or manner of reception.

The holy Madonna goes by many names to many cultures. She is called Cosmic Grace, Earth Mother, Holy Comforter, Queen of the Angels, Isis, Quan Yin, Shiva, The Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Guadeloupe, The Immaculate Mother, The Madonna of the Golden Flame, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Medjugorje, etc.
