Sometimes… I hurt, I hunger, I thirst, and I am filled with wanting. --- Sometimes… I forget the I am, I truly am, and I have a place in this universe. Sometimes… I forget my value, and see only my faults. --- At these times, I can tend to turn inward and see only myself. At these times, I may see only my hurt, my thirst, my wants. --- At these times, I can forget you, my brother, and you, my sister. At these times, my humanity ebbs. --- Let me never forget that I am called not only to love, and to compassion, but also to community. And there is no community, if there is only me. --- O, Hope of the Universe, we are all children of the universe. Let us refuse to divide into camps of gender, race, or spiritual path. --- But let us come together. May our lives be made richer and more whole by reaching out to one another, in times of joy and in times of terror. --- May our lives be filled to overflowing by reaching out to one another.
